February cube update
Posted by Mr Z on February 10th, 2010 filed in Mr Zetetic's CubeWell here we are – the first major cube update! And what an update! Incorporating the addition of Worldwake, plus the removal of allies, I can’t wait to get my teath into it and start drafting!
One thing I have noticed when makig random sealed decks from the cube is there appears to be a shortage of creatures in the card pool. Looking at Zendikar block there is 186/384 (48%) while my cube ratio is 168/410 (40.97%) That is a significant difference.
My first thought is to up the colours to 60 cards each and add a 35/25 creature spell split. This would result in the following ratio 218/460 (47.39) which is closer to the target ratio.
Upping the coloured cards would also reduce the high multicolour concentration in the pool. It would also increase the varience of cards appearing in an 8 player draft or four player sealed pool. Have calculated the CMC of my creatures ve the Zendikar block and they are prety close to the averages.
Next come the process of selecting a short list of creatures to add.
